Eficácia da terapia oclusiva na reabilitação visual da ambliopia estrábica

A ambliopia é a maior causa de comprometimento da acuidade visual monocular em crianças no mundo. Ocorre quando há discordância de experiência visual entre os olhos durante os primeiros anos de vida. O que pode ocasionar cargas psicológicas, redução da qualidade de vida e desempenho escolar insuficiente. Este trabalho tem como objetivo relatar um caso de ambliopia sem prévia adesão terapêutica de uma escolar, com idade próxima ao limite do período de plasticidade ocular. A instituição de correção óptica total e terapia oclusiva no olho amblíope por 6 horas diárias – juntamente com acompanhamento regular – culminou em um desfecho clínico favorável, com alternância de fixação ao teste de oclusão e, a acuidade visual com correção apresentou diferença inferior a duas linhas. O que evidencia a eficácia da terapia de oclusão associada a correção óptica e acompanhamento regular e periódico para a reabilitação visual de uma paciente escolar com idade limítrofe de plasticidade cortical, histórico de baixa adesão e ambliopia mista, estrábica e anisometrópica.
