Atividade física, saúde mental e desempenho acadêmico em adolescentes

Sintetizar as evidências sobre as relações entre atividade física, saúde mental e desempenho acadêmico em adolescentes escolarizados. Métodos: Foi realizada busca estruturada da literatura acadêmica, incluindo estudos transversais, longitudinais, ensaios escolares e revisões sistemáticas ou meta-análises para contextualização. As evidências foram organizadas segundo atividade física, aptidão cardiorrespiratória, participação esportiva, educação física escolar e intervenções relacionadas ao movimento. Resultados: As associações foram mais consistentes para saúde mental do que para notas escolares. Estudos brasileiros identificaram maior frequência de transtornos mentais comuns, solidão ou insônia entre adolescentes menos envolvidos em atividade física, esporte ou educação física. Estudos longitudinais com medidas objetivas apresentaram resultados menos uniformes. Para o desempenho acadêmico, a atividade física total mostrou resultados mistos, enquanto a aptidão cardiorrespiratória apresentou associações mais estáveis com matemática, língua e leitura. Intervenções escolares produziram efeitos pequenos ou nulos sobre o desempenho global, mas resultados mais favoráveis quando melhoraram a qualidade pedagógica da educação física ou integraram movimento ao ensino. Na saúde mental, os benefícios concentraram-se em bem-estar, ansiedade e subgrupos com sintomas iniciais mais elevados. Conclusão: A atividade física escolar parece compatível com o desempenho acadêmico e pode favorecer a saúde mental, mas os efeitos dependem do tipo de atividade, dose, contexto, qualidade da implementação e características dos estudantes.
